NXT Phoenix, AZ, live results: Adam Cole vs. Roderick Strong

Submitted by reader Eric Place
– The Street Profits defeated Steve Cutler & Wesley Blake
There was lots of razzing of Cutler as the crowd did “we want Murphy” chants, which cracked up all four. This was a good opener, with the Street Profits winning with their finish.
– Billie Kay defeated Vanessa Borne
Borne, who is from Scottsdale, Arizona, got some hometown support. She is very green, though. Kay won with a kick to the face.
– Heavy Machinery defeated Tino Sabbatelli & Riddick Moss
Otis Dozovic is so awesome; just amazing charisma. The match was okay. It was mostly comedy, but Tucker Knight’s hot tag fire has improved.
– Adam Cole defeated Roderick Strong
This was the match of the night. They tore the house down. It was a hard-hitting, fast-paced match that went around 15 minutes, with everything looking real and the crowd being totally into everything. Strong used lots of backbreakers. It was TakeOver main event-quality work.
– Peyton Royce defeated Ember Moon, Kairi Sane, and Nikki Cross in a fatal four-way match
Solid house show match, but it will be considered a disappointment if it’s what they do at TakeOver. The finish came when Kay ran down and ended up tripping Moon, holding her feet while Royce got the pin.
– Lars Sullivan defeated Kassius Ohno
Not bad. Ohno worked his butt off and got a decent match out of Sullivan. They beat the crap out of each other for about five minutes, which was just right. Sullivan looks to have potential and has tremendous presence and facials.
– Drew McIntyre & Aleister Black defeated Velveteen Dream & Andrade “Cien” Almas (w/ Zelina Vega)
This was a strong main event, with McIntyre getting the pin with the Claymore Kick. It was a very good house show match, but nothing could equal Cole vs. Strong. The crowd reacted well to Almas, and Vega’s mic work contributed to that.
McIntyre and Black stayed for a while after shaking hands and taking pictures.
