NXT Leeds, England, live results: Pete Dunne vs. Roderick Strong

Submitted by reader James Ryder
– Kassius Ohno defeated Wolfgang
This was a fun opener. Ohno hit some nasty looking bicycle kicks early. He controlled a lot of the match. Wolfgang missed a Swanton and Ohno hit the discus elbow for the win.
– Jack Gallagher, Mark Andrews & Trent Seven defeated Riddick Moss, Tino Sabbatelli & Lars Sullivan
Moss cut a pre-match promo introducing his team and calling the city Sheffield instead of Leeds. The faces started tagging in and out, working on the arms of Moss and Sabbatelli. The heels eventually teamed up on Seven. Sullivan tagged in and showed good offense with suplexes and a middle rope headbutt.
The hot tag came after the heels had argued when they wouldn’t tag in Sullivan. Seven made the tag to Gallagher, which quickly led to the finish after taking out Moss and Sullivan. Sullivan chokeslammed Seven on the apron, but Andrews hit a shooting star press on Sabbatelli in the ring for the win.
– Ruby Riot defeated Nikki Cross
They had a back-and-forth match. Riot won with an up-kick, which didn’t look good live because of how Cross put up her arm.
– WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne defeated Roderick Strong
As expected, they had a really good match. Dunne got a big reaction. There was lots of back and forth with numerous backbreakders and hard chops and kicks. Dunne eventually gave Strong a German suplex in the corner and followed up with the Bitter End to win.
– Aleister Black defeated Andrade “Cien” Almas and Eric Young in a triple threat match
They had a really good triple threat and all three got the chance to shine. It was quite a stiff match with hard slaps and knees. They did a tower-of-doom spot near the end of the match. Black then won after hitting Almas with Black Mass.
– William Regal came out for a promo after intermission. He thanked the fans and put over the talent. He got a great response.
– NXT Tag Team Champions The Authors of Pain defeated SAnitY (Killian Dain & Alexander Wolfe) to retain their titles
This wasn’t a very good match. AOP worked over Wolfe with rest holds before he got the hot tag to Dain, who ran wild with a crossbody, a cannonball, a senton, and a Vader Bomb. AOP dumped Dain on the outside and hit their finish on Wolfe for the win. SAnitY played face in the match.
– NXT Women’s Champion Asuka & Aliyah defeated Billie Kay & Peyton Royce
Royce fell over during her entrance, which got a big pop from the crowd. It started off sloppy with Aliyah beginning the match for her team. The heels worked over Aliyah until Asuka got the hot tag. Asuka ran wild with kicks before Kay and Royce took her down with a wheelbarrow into a side kick.
Eventually, Asuka reversed a roll-up attempt by Kay into the Asuka Lock for the win.
– NXT Champion Bobby Roode defeated Drew McIntyre to retain his title
Both got a big pop and Roode’s “Glorious” entrance was over as expected. They started off with comedy, each doing the “Glorious” pose. It was a good back-and-forth match, which saw McIntyre kick out of a Glorious DDT at one point.
Roode brought in a chair and tried to hit McIntyre, but he ducked and hit Roode with a Future Shock DDT. Roode was able to get his arm in the ropes to break the count. McIntyre tried to hit the move from the second rope, but Roode reversed it into a pin with his feet on the ropes for the win.
After the match, Roode tried to attack McIntyre until he fought back and hit Roode with the Claymore Kick. He posed with the NXT title to send the crowd home happy.
