NXT Albany, NY, live results: Kairi Sane back in action

Reports submitted by readers Cameron Smith and AJ Raskin
– Kassius Ohno defeated Marcel Barthel
This was a nice opener. Ohno won with a forearm strike to the back of the head.
– Kairi Sane defeated Lacey Evans
Sane, who had been banged up, was wrestling in her first match since TakeOver: War Games in November. She hit the Insane Elbow to win.
– TM61 cut a backstage promo with The Undisputed Era where they challenged Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly to a Tag Team title match. Undisputed Era only offered a non-title match.
– Adam Cole defeated Roderick Strong
They had a good match and Cole got a big reaction. The fans were into the crisp striking and Strong’s backbreakers.
Cole hit a running knee to the back of the head to pick up the win.
– The Authors of Pain defeated The Street Profits
AOP attacked before the bell, then Angelo Dawkins grabbed a mic as AOP walked to the back and challenged them to return to the ring.
The match started, and AOP eventually hit the Last Chapter to win.
– Aleister Black defeated Fabian Aichner
One of the better crowd reactions for the night was for Black’s entrance. Aichner targeted his back, but the Black Mass ended this one.
– NXT Women’s Champion Ember Moon defeated Shayna Baszler by DQ
The disqualification came when Baszler refused to release a rear naked choke after Moon grabbed the ropes.
Moon recovered shakily following the match, with her selling as she went up the entranceway.
– NXT Tag Team Champions Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly defeated TM61 to retain their titles
Before this began, Kayla Braxton announced that it was now for the titles. TM61 got some “welcome back” chants at the start, but they tapered off as Fish received a warm reception in his hometown.
The champions retained when Fish used a roll-up while holding onto the tights. There was a big pop for Fish getting the pin.
– Johnny Gargano defeated Velveteen Dream
This seemed to have the most crowd interest of the night early on. There were dueling chants for both. Dream revealed that he was wearing a New England Patriots shirt and was booed. He spent time taunting the crowd and avoiding Gargano early on. Gargano grabbed the Patriots shirt and teased doing something to it. Gargano dropped an elbow on it, wiped himself with it, and threw it out of the ring.
Gargano ended up submitting Dream with the Gargano Escape. Zelina Vega came out holding the NXT Championship and cut a promo, with Andrade “Cien” Almas coming through the crowd and attacking Gargano.
Gargano fought back and Almas retreated from ringside. He challenged Almas to a match, but they wouldn’t accept. Gargano hyped up TakeOver and hung out with fans to close the show.
