Report: Randy Orton signs new five-year deal with WWE

Randy Orton has reportedly signed a new deal with WWE.

According to Fightful, Orton recently signed a five-year contract to remain in the company. He will be 49 years old when the deal expires in 2029.

A WWE source reportedly said the shift to guaranteed money is why a new deal was reached rather than extending Orton’s previous one, which was agreed to in 2019.

“The guaranteed money associated with contracts now is a drastic shift from what it was in 2019. There have been changes to our live event schedule, touring, international dates, media obligations, merchandise and social media that would be much more fair to just reach a new deal in many situations,” the source reportedly said to Fightful.

Orton was will be Gunther’s opponent for Bash in Berlin later this month, a story first reported by our own Dave Meltzer, who wrote:

“Using Orton is notable because one would expect Gunther to be the babyface for a show in Germany but Orton has been unbelievably popular on the recent events in Europe over the past few months. Obviously Orton will be portrayed as the babyface on television.”

Orton first signed with WWE almost a quarter of a century ago. He started training at Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2000 at 20 years of age. Four years later he was voted “Most Improved” in the 2004 Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards and he has since gone on to be a 14-time World Champion.
