Report: Meiko Satomura retiring, likely to have final match in 2025

The legendary Meiko Satomura is wrapping up her in-ring career.

Tokyo Sports reports that Satomura has decided to retire from in-ring competition and will be making a formal announcement about the decision soon. The report says that, while a date for her retirement has not been confirmed, it will likely happen next spring. April 2025 is the 30th anniversary of Satomura’s pro wrestling debut.

Satomura runs the Sendai Girls promotion in Japan and is under contract with WWE. At Thursday’s house show in Osaka, Satomura wrestled her first WWE match since competing for NXT in March 2023. She teamed with Bayley, Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill in a victory over IYO SKY, Kairi Sane, Dakota Kai & Tiffany Stratton.

After the house show, Satomura told Tokyo Sports that she will address her impending retirement in the near future. She has only wrestled a couple of times over the last year.

Satomura signed with WWE in 2021 as a wrestler and coach for NXT UK. She’s a former NXT UK Women’s Champion.

During her stellar in-ring career, Satomura has competed in Japan, starred on the indies globally, and even competed for WCW in the 1990s.
