R-Truth: Response to WWE near-departure showed ‘the good in humanity’

What started as a difficult situation for R-Truth (Ron Killings) ended up being a blessing in disguise that affirmed how good humanity can be.

At the start of June, Truth announced that he would be departing WWE with the company deciding not to renew his contract. WWE’s decision led to a huge social media backlash, with both fans and fellow wrestlers expressing their disappointment at Truth being let go. The outpouring of love made a difference as, less than a week after informing him of his departure, WWE reached a deal to bring Truth back.

Truth opened up about the experience during a new interview on the Toronto Sun’s No Holds Barred podcast. He was asked what he would remember most about this period of time in his life.

“The outreach,” Truth responded. “The love. I think it was meant for me and it was meant for everybody, man. Through all social media, [there were] over 100 million reactions of emotions and of unifying on one thing. So if anything, it showed that we all can come together on something. Like, regardless of what, how, when, where — boom, we all came together on something. So that was showing the good in humanity, man. That was great.”

We’ve seen a repackaged version of Truth since his return with the 53-year-old wrestling veteran showing more of his real self. Upon being brought back, he resumed a program with John Cena and is now feuding with Aleister Black. Truth is coming off a victory over Black on SmackDown last week.
