Pre-NXT TakeOver TV taping results: Roderick Strong vs. Tyler Bate

Before TakeOver: Philadelphia went on the air last night, three matches were taped at the Wells Fargo Center for Wednesday’s episode of NXT television.

The tapings were headlined by Roderick Strong facing Tyler Bate in a WWE United Kingdom Championship number one contender’s match.

– Nikki Cross defeated Lacey Evans

Cross got a good reaction and won with her swinging fisherman neckbreaker. This was a short match, but it was good.

– TM61 defeated The Ealy Brothers

This was TM61’s televised in-ring return after Shane Thorne’s knee surgery from last year, though they’ve been back on house shows for a few months. They got a huge reaction, put in a great performance, and won with the Thunder Valley.

– Roderick Strong defeated Tyler Bate in a WWE United Kingdom Championship number one contender’s match

They had a very good match, with Strong winning with a vertical suplex into a double knees backbreaker. There were dueling chants for both, along with chants of “NXT” and “this is awesome.”

Strong will get the next shot at Pete Dunne’s title.
