NXT’s Grayson Waller appears on WWE Raw

The final Raw of 2021 included an appearance by a member of the NXT 2.0 roster.
NXT’s Grayson Waller was on Raw tonight to continue his feud with AJ Styles. After the feud began with Waller mocking Styles on social media, Styles appeared on NXT last week and confronted Waller.
Styles was supposed to face his former tag team partner Omos on Raw tonight, but Omos didn’t appear on the show. While Styles was cutting a promo in the ring, Waller was in the front row with a “The Grayson Waller Effect is Phenomenal” sign. Styles said Waller is someone who doesn’t want to pay his dues to get to the top. He then told Waller to get into the ring.
Waller said that, since Styles showed up on NXT last week, he thought he should come to Styles’ house to show everyone what they can see on NXT. Waller said that all he had to do was get under Styles’ skin and now Styles is begging for Waller to be in the ring with him. Waller said he liked it on Raw and Mondays felt right to him — and he’ll like them even more when Omos is done with Styles and Waller takes Styles’ spot.
Styles threatened to give Waller a Phenomenal Forearm so Waller could count the lights on his way out of Raw. But before things could go any further, Apollo Crews and Commander Azeez interrupted Styles. It set up a match where Styles defeated Crews.
A match between Styles and Waller was also teased during their confrontation on NXT last week. Waller backed away from Styles after acting like he was going to step to him. Waller said he was going to let Omos get Styles first — and then Waller has next.
Waller (real name Matt Farrelly) is from Australia and used the in-ring name Matty Wahlberg before signing with WWE. He was a contestant on “Australian Survivor: Champions vs. Contenders” in 2019.
Waller has laid out Johnny Gargano and LA Knight on NXT in recent weeks, with the attack on Gargano coming when Gargano was addressing his future before his WWE contract expired.
