Number one contender’s match set for WWE SmackDown New Year’s Revolution

A triple threat match to determine the next challenger for Roman Reigns’ Undisputed Universal Championship is set for WWE SmackDown’s New Year’s Revolution episode.

As announced during Friday’s SmackDown, Randy Orton vs. LA Knight vs. AJ Styles is set for the January 5 show, with the winner moving on to face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Universal title at Royal Rumble on January 27. 

SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis set up the match during a promo segment on SmackDown involving Styles, Orton, and Knight. 

The finals of the United States Championship contender’s tournament will also take place on January 5. 

Kevin Owens defeated Carmelo Hayes, and Santos Escobar defeated Bobby Lashley in the tournament semifinals on Friday’s show to advance to the finals. The winner of Owens vs. Escobar will face Logan Paul for the US title at a later date. 

The WWE Women’s Championship will also be on the line on the New Year’s Revolution SmackDown, as Michin will challenge IYO SKY for the title. Michin pinned SKY in a Holiday Havoc tag match on this week’s SmackDown to set up the title bout. 

Also announced, Butch and a mystery partner will face Pretty Deadly’s Elton Prince & Kit Wilson on the New Year’s Revolution show.

  • WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY defends against Michin
  • Butch & a mystery partner vs. Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson)
