New Universal Champion decided at WWE Crown Jewel

Brock Lesnar is once again the WWE Universal Champion.

Lesnar defeated Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to win the vacant title. The story of the match was Baron Corbin (the acting on-screen general manager of Raw) hitting Strowman with the Universal title belt before the bell rang and Strowman kicking out of three F5s before losing.

The Universal title was vacated when Roman Reigns revealed his battle with leukemia on the October 22 episode of Raw.

On the Crown Jewel broadcast, it was announced that Lesnar will face WWE Champion AJ Styles in a non-title champion vs. champion match at Survivor Series in Los Angeles, California on November 18. Lesnar also defeated Styles in a champion vs. champion match at last year’s Survivor Series pay-per-view.

What this means for Lesnar’s future in the UFC remains to be seen. Daniel Cormier will defend his heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden tomorrow. Lesnar will be eligible to fight again as of January 8, 2019.
