Matt Hardy says NXT run is done, but ‘we have stuff lined up with WWE’

Even though their run in WWE NXT has wrapped, Matt & Jeff Hardy aren’t done with WWE just yet.

On his weekly podcast with Jon Alba, Matt confirmed that their “little run with NXT is wrapped” after they successfully defended the TNA Tag Team titles against NXT Tag Team Champions Fraxiom (Axiom & Nathan Frazer).

He then added the following:

“We do have some stuff on our schedule to do with WWE a little later on down the road. Nothing specifically with NXT yet,” he said. When Alba asked if it was content-related, Hardy said, “Just stuff. I’m going to leave it at that right now. We have stuff lined up with WWE.”

He said he would love to do a rematch with Fraxiom in the future, challenging for their NXT titles instead.

The 50-year-old Matt and 47-year-old Jeff wrestled twice in NXT and went 2-0, made possible through the multi-year partnership between WWE and TNA announced earlier this year.

Matt and Jeff will now shift focus back to TNA for Friday’s Sacrifice event where Jeff will challenge X-Division Champion Moose in a ladder match while Matt will be part of a 10-man cage match that includes reigning TNA World Champion Joe Hendry.

While he was sad that “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Josh Alexander are no longer with TNA, Matt intimated more new wrestlers could be heading TNA’s way, saying “a couple more people have been talked about which is exciting” in addition to new faces like Elias.
