Liv Morgan explains how injury helped her WWE career

Having to take time off due to injury helped Liv Morgan reach another level in her WWE career.
The current Women’s World Champion was a guest on The Pat McAfee Show this Wednesday, promoting that Royal Rumble tickets are going on sale this week. During the interview, Morgan discussed finding her confidence and a championship mentality. Morgan pointed to the shoulder injury she suffered in 2023 as a turning point where the time off did wonders for her mental health.
“I feel like my whole career, up until after my injury — I didn’t come from entertainment, I don’t have a wrestling family, I’m not a division-one athlete. And so I think I almost had like imposter syndrome for a very long time. Not feeling like I deserved to be here or that I earned to be here, but I loved it so much. I grew up a fan of WWE since I was five years old. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. But I think I struggled for a long time just feeling like I don’t fit the bill,” she said.
“And it wasn’t until I had my time off during my injury that I got to just really sit with myself for the first time in the last 10 years of my life. I’ve been with WWE since I was 20 years old. And so, to just have no schedule and to just really like sit with myself — I feel like it did wonders for my mental health, my confidence. And so when I came back, I felt so different. And I just knew I was ready now.”
The 30-year-old Morgan returned to action at the start of this year and has been Women’s World Champion since May.
While IYO SKY is the number one contender to her title, Morgan remains locked into a long-term feud with Rhea Ripley. Their storyline has included Morgan turning heel and luring Dominik Mysterio away from Ripley.
