Kofi Kingston vs. Samoa Joe WWE title match set for Extreme Rules

Ahead of tonight’s SmackDown, WWE confirmed another one of the top matches for Extreme Rules.
Kofi Kingston will defend his WWE Championship against Samoa Joe at the pay-per-view. Their program began on last night’s Raw, with Joe attacking Kingston and putting him in the Coquina Clutch after Kingston defeated Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in singles matches.
WWE also posted a video where Dolph Ziggler was unhappy about Kingston vs. Joe being made for Extreme Rules.
Tonight’s SmackDown will feature Kingston responding to Joe’s attack.
Kingston retained the WWE title against Ziggler in a steel cage match at Stomping Grounds on Sunday, while Joe lost the United States Championship to Ricochet.
Extreme Rules is taking place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 14. Universal Champion Seth Rollins & Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch will face Baron Corbin & Lacey Evans at the PPV, and Roman Reigns & The Undertaker will team against Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre.
Rollins & Lynch vs. Corbin & Evans has a winners-take-all stipulation, with both the Universal and Raw Women’s Championships on the line as part of the match.
