John Cena’s return to kick off tonight’s SmackDown

Whatever the direction is for John Cena as he makes his return to WWE television tonight, we won’t have to wait very long to find out.
Cena announced on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon that his return is scheduled to kick off tonight’s episode of SmackDown. He hasn’t appeared on the show in over two months after losing a WWE Championship triple threat match against AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose at No Mercy in October.
In an interview with ESPN that was posted on Tuesday, Cena spoke about his return, reflected on his career, and was asked about potentially facing the Undertaker at WrestleMania. While answering the latter question, Cena answered affirmatively that he would want to “be in a high-profile match with one of the most legendary superstars in the industry.”
WWE has heavily hyped tonight’s year-end edition of SmackDown, with three title matches announced in addition to Cena making his return. Styles will defend his title against Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler in a triple threat match, Becky Lynch will challenge Alexa Bliss for the Women’s Championship, and the Wyatts will put their tag titles on the line in a four corners elimination match against American Alpha, The Usos, and Heath Slater & Rhyno.
