John Cena: ‘There’s more unpredictability on the way’

John Cena on WWE RAW

John Cena isn’t giving too much away regarding his future WWE storylines, but he says fans can expect “more unpredictability.”

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the 16-time World Champion was asked for more details about where his character is headed in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania. Cena was careful to avoid spoilers in his response.

“I’m going to say that there’s more unpredictability on the way,” Cena said.

“Here’s the stance I’m going to take on it, and I think hopefully I can put it in terms you can understand: We’re in the middle of a very riveting season of episodic television and you are kindly asking me to give you spoilers, and I can’t do that,” he continued. “What I did really enjoy about your question is you expressed the unpredictability of WWE programming, and I think that’s one strong point of the current state of WWE — its unpredictability in its programming.”

Cena was also asked whether there are any goals he still hopes to accomplish in WWE. He responded:

“I want to be careful by not spoiling the cool moments that we have, but this is something that goes beyond WWE programming. I just love it, and I think that when I can no longer compete, I will always be a member of the WWE family in some capacity — whether I can pass on my wisdom through mentorship or be an advocate and a spokesperson for the brand. They certainly will have to shoo me away, because I’m like you — I’m a fan first and I love it so much.”

A face-to-face segment with Cena and Cody Rhodes kicked off Monday’s episode of WWE Raw from the O2 Arena in London, England. Cena took several shots at Rhodes during the segment, including a reference to AEW.

“I make empires for billionaires. All you’ve ever done is steal money from their kids,” Cena told Rhodes.

The segment ended with Rhodes giving Cena a Cross Rhodes and standing tall.

Triple H recently discussed Cena’s heel turn and storyline with Rhodes during an interview with Daily Mail, saying that he believes Cena sees this heel run as a challenge.

“It’s a challenge to him. John’s not a complacent person,” he said.
