John Cena to kick off Monday’s WWE Raw

Following his surprise return at Money in the Bank, fans won’t have to wait long for John Cena’s next appearance on WWE programming.

WWE has announced that Cena will kick off this Monday’s episode of Raw. Cena said he’ll explain his motivation for returning at Money in the Bank.

After Roman Reigns retained his Universal Championship against Edge in the main event of Sunday’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Reigns started to cut a promo where he said the whole world can now acknowledge him. Cena’s music then hit and he made his way out to the ring to confront Reigns. Cena did his “You Can’t See Me” taunt in Reigns’ face, and the show went off the air with Reigns and Cena in the ring.

Cena is expected to challenge for Reigns’ Universal Championship at SummerSlam next month, but that has yet to be officially announced. SummerSlam is taking place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, August 21.

Cena spoke to the crowd after Money in the Bank ended. He said he wanted to come out here and let Reigns and the fans know that he’s back. Cena promised that this wasn’t a one-night-only appearance, but he said it was special that it was the first night. Cena thanked the wrestlers for putting their bodies on the line to entertain the fans. Cena said he missed the fans and loves them. He then thanked the fans for being there.

This was Cena’s first appearance on WWE programming since he faced “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt in their cinematic Firefly Fun House match at WrestleMania 36 in 2020.
