John Cena has already signed WWE contract extension for post-retirement

John Cena is committed to remaining part of the WWE family even after retirement.

Cena plans to become an ambassador for the company following his retirement from in-ring competition in December 2025. While appearing on the Club Shay Shay podcast with NFL legend Shannon Sharpe, Cena said he’s already signed a contract extension that will keep him part of WWE for the near, mid, and long-term future.

“I have such a trustworthy relationship with them over two decades. I am a champion of the brand. I love the company. It is my home, they are my family,” Cena said. “Even after 2025, I’ve already signed an extension to remain a member of the WWE family for the near, mid, and long-term future. I don’t think there will be a beat of my heart where WWE doesn’t come out of.”

From January to December of 2025, Cena will return to WWE for a retirement tour. He plans on working “right around 36 dates” during the tour.

Cena told Club Shay Shay that he hopes the tour is good for WWE business, continues to build the future of the brand and company, and is satisfying for the fans. He wants the audience to be able to relive old memories while also creating new ones.

The December 2025 retirement date is a final one for Cena. He’s said there’s no amount of money that could lure him back to the ring after that.
