John Cena delivers ‘pipe bomb’ promo to CM Punk on WWE SmackDown

The pipe bomb has been reversed.
John Cena ended Friday’s WWE SmackDown standing over CM Punk after delivering a promo very similar to the one Punk gave to Cena back in 2011. It started after Cena DQ’d himself while wrestling R-Truth. Punk came out for the save, but was taken out after a low blow and two title belt shots to the head. After Cena gave Punk an AA through a table, his promo began.
Cena started by echoing Punk’s promo from fourteen years ago, saying Punk can sit there and digest the promo because before he leaves in six months, he has a lot of things to get off his chest. He said he didn’t hate Punk but he hates the idea that he’s the best in the world. Cena said that he is the greatest of all time, but Punk is the “best bulls******” in the world.” He then declared he was breaking the fourth wall as he moved on, saying he’s jealous of Punk because he got people to believe he was the best in the world. But they don’t believe “a god d*** word” he says because he’s an opportunist who stands on the neck of people who actually work hard to get ahead. Cena told another camera to shoot him, saying hello to Claudio Castagnoli, Nic Nemeth, and Matt Cardona.
Cena said that Punk regurgitated the same “five microphone moves of doom,” he’s no longer the voice of the voiceless, he’s a capitalist. He wasn’t against TKO, he’s Mr. TKO. His tweets were strong, but his actions are weak because in Saudi Arabia he’s going to face some strong music as he’s going to go against the greatest of all time. Cena told Punk that he was the best in the world for seven minutes fourteen years ago and at Night of Champions if he still believes he’s the best in the world, well, “I guess it is a small world after all.”
He closed by saying he knows they will sing and chant but he knows even the idiots in the crowd knew the champ is here. He then left, but gave one parting shot before the show ended: “Thanks for letting me rip off your promo to make you even more foolish.”
After Cena’s loss at Money in the Bank, Punk came out to challenge the WWE Champion, who told Punk the only way he’d do it is if it took place in Saudi Arabia, something Punk had been vocally against doing on social media. Punk agreed, setting up the title match. In the time since, Cena has claimed he has made Punk a hypocrite in order to get the title match he wanted.
