John Cena to appear on WWE SmackDown tomorrow

After teasing a match with The Undertaker tonight, John Cena’s build to WrestleMania will continue on this week’s episode of SmackDown.

Cena cut a promo on Raw tonight to explain why he’ll be appearing on SmackDown, with him saying he’s heading to the brand to earn a spot at WrestleMania. Cena discussed failing at the Royal Rumble and the Elimination Chamber during his promo. He then issued a WrestleMania challenge to The Undertaker — before claiming that the match isn’t happening and saying he’s been told it’s impossible.

Cena, who is a free agent in storyline, represented SmackDown in last year’s Survivor Series main event but hasn’t been on the show since August. He’s been advertised for SmackDown’s Fastlane pay-per-view since early January.

The Staples Center in Los Angeles, which advertised Cena’s appearance earlier today, will host SmackDown tomorrow night. Ruby Riott vs. Naomi is the only match that has been announced for the show as of now. There are two episodes remaining before Fastlane takes place on March 11th.
