Jeff Hardy undergoes knee surgery, says ‘let the healing begin’

After vacating the SmackDown Tag Team titles earlier this week, Jeff Hardy has undergone surgery for his knee injury.

“Let the healing begin,” Hardy said in a video he posted on Instagram on Thursday night. Hardy also wrote a caption thanking WWE and the Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center.

The Hardys relinquished the SmackDown Tag Team titles on Tuesday’s episode, with Jeff’s injury being blamed on Lars Sullivan in storyline. WWE has yet to announce how the next champions will be decided.

WWE uploaded a post-SmackDown interview where Jeff discussed the injury. Jeff said he would be having his whole right knee repaired and noted that he’ll be out of action for six to nine months. He vowed to come back better than ever, saying he’ll hopefully be able to put on a better show than he has recently.

The Hardys defeated The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team titles on the April 9 episode of the show. The last match Jeff had before vacating the titles was at WWE’s house show in Madison, Wisconsin on April 20.
