Jake Roberts feeling ‘almost 100 percent’ after recent hospital stay

Jake Roberts shared a health update on the latest episode of his podcast.
Roberts, who lives with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), was hospitalized for four days earlier this month due to pneumonia, which can be particularly dangerous for someone with his condition.
Two weeks after his hospital stay, Roberts says he’s feeling much better.
“I think I’m finally kicking out from the flu. Feeling pretty good, feeling almost 100 percent,” Roberts said on The Snake Pit. “I’ve gotten a lot of well wishes and I do appreciate it.”
While in the hospital, doctors discovered other health issues. Roberts mentioned two weeks ago on his podcast that he will need to have “a couple of procedures” done on his heart.
“Another thing is, apparently, I’m leaking blood somewhere in my gut, and that’s causing my iron levels to be low, so that’s not a good thing,” Roberts said earlier this month. “Then, to top it off, I got a problem with my ticker. But by going in, I caught it, and we got to go have a couple of procedures done, and it’ll be all hunky dory then.”
During today’s episode, Roberts also commented on the recent passings of Black Bart and WWE Hall of Famer Bob Uecker.
“I had some time with Bart. He was a good fella,” Roberts said. “Just a tough old redneck, family man, sweet man.”
“Yeah, he was funnier than s–t, man. He was funnier than hell,” Roberts said of Uecker, later adding that Uecker “fit right in” backstage in WWE. “He was ready for the locker room,” he said.
The latest Snake Pit episode focuses on Roberts’ run as the Louisiana Champion and the North American Champion in late 1980 and his time in Mid South in 1981. The full episode is available below.
