‘High-grade triceps tendon injury’ suspected for Dean Ambrose

Dean Ambrose could be facing some time out of action.

WWE posted an update on Ambrose’s injured right arm today, with Dr. Chris Amann noting that an MRI showed “suspicion for a high-grade triceps tendon injury, possibly a tear.” Amann said Ambrose would be undergoing surgical exploration and “most likely” surgical repair of the triceps tendon. Further updates, including what the timetable for recovery is, should be made available tonight or tomorrow.

Ambrose was being examined by Dr. Jeffrey Dugas, who is an orthopedic surgeon at the Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

Dave Meltzer reported last night that Ambrose was dealing with a legitimate injury to his elbow. Ambrose came to television hurt on Monday, and there was an angle on Raw where Ambrose acted like he suffered an injury in a six-man tag match and was later attacked by Samoa Joe backstage.

A significant injury would be a rarity for Ambrose, who has been one of the most durable wrestlers in WWE over the last few years.
