Former WWE wrestler declares victory in congressional primary

It appears that a former WWE wrestler will be the Republican candidate for a seat in the United States congress this November.

Daniel Rodimer, who currently has 44 percent of the vote with the next closest candidates at 32.1 percent and 13.5 percent, has declared victory in yesterday’s Republican primary in Nevada’s third congressional district. Incumbent congresswoman Susie Lee has been declared the winner of her Democratic primary, currently leading with 83.4 percent of the vote against challengers with  8.7 percent and 7.9 percent.

Lee was elected to congress for the first time in 2018. She won that election with 51.9 percent of the vote to her opponent’s 42.8 percent.

Rodimer was part of season four of WWE Tough Enough in 2004 and was later signed to WWE developmental. Stephanie McMahon was said to have been high on him and there were plans for him to debut as part of Rated RKO with Edge and Randy Orton, but it was announced in 2007 that he was no longer with the company.

“I would first and foremost like to thank the Republican voters of Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District for placing their trust and confidence in me. I also thank my family, our friends, and our amazing team of grassroots volunteers who pushed us to victory,” Rodimer said in his statement today.

While declaring victory in the primary and detailing his policy plans, Rodimer accused Lee of being corrupt and criticized her for aligning with “Washington liberals and the socialist Squad” and for her vote to impeach Donald Trump.
