Edge says his WWE contract expires at end of September

Edge has given an update on when his WWE contract is slated to expire.
Last night’s SmackDown was the final match on Edge’s current contract with WWE. While appearing on Sportsnet’s The FAN Morning Show in advance of the match, Edge stated that his contract is up at the end of September.
Edge responded when asked if he’s thought about his future and potentially retiring:
I mean, I can’t say I haven’t thought about it. I have, for sure. But I realize that I haven’t come to any conclusions. And I’m kind of torn, honestly. Because I don’t want to do this to the point where I don’t feel like I’m able to have the output that I want. Because only I know how I feel when I’m deep into a match and go, ‘Oof, man, okay, didn’t do enough cardio’ or ‘Man, I did all that cardio and I’m still feeling this way.’ That’s why I really want to collect myself after this thing. Take just a big ol’ deep breath and just decide what that is. My contract is up at the end of September. This is my last contracted match. So I have a lot of decisions to make. But I can’t do it now. I think I almost got to see how Friday goes in a weird way. I know that’s not a clear answer, but I don’t have it yet.
Edge celebrated the 25th anniversary of his WWE debut on SmackDown last night. The main event saw Edge defeat Sheamus in their first-ever one-on-one match against each other.
After SmackDown went off the air, Edge gave a speech to the crowd. Edge said he doesn’t know what the future holds for him. He’s going to talk to his family this week and see what they want him to do. Edge did indicate that last night was the final time he’ll ever wrestle in the city of Toronto.
Edge’s wife Beth Phoenix, their two daughters, and Edge’s trainer Ron Hutchison were in the crowd for last night’s SmackDown.
Edge and Sheamus hugged following their match and then had a pint of Guinness together backstage after the show.
A Canadian & an Irishman had a brawl that would make a banshee bawl.. what then? They had a pint of Guinness and said good night & thank you all. #ThankYouEdge #Edge25 pic.twitter.com/QmkbOnB5h2
