Edge removed from WWE SmackDown intro

Edge is no longer in the intro of WWE SmackDown.

It was noticeable during Friday’s show that Edge had been removed from the introductory video opening the program. When WWE uploaded a video of their new intro back on September 8, Edge coming out to his pyro could be seen.

Edge has said that his contract with the WWE is set to expire later this month. However, he’s also said that a contract is currently sitting in his inbox.

After PWInsider reported that Edge was removed from WWE’s internal roster, he was added back on, though he is no longer listed as an active television performer. According to the Pro Wrestling Torch, Edge is believed to be AEW-bound after not signing a new deal with WWE. Edge has been associated with WWE for most of his career, first appearing on TV back in 1998.

Edge returned to active wrestling in 2020 after having retired in 2011 due to neck injuries. He last appeared on the August 18 edition of SmackDown in his hometown of Toronto, defeating Sheamus in a match he requested.
