Drew McIntyre appearance set for WWE SmackDown

After making his return at the Royal Rumble, Drew McIntyre is set to appear on tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

WWE has announced that McIntyre will return to SmackDown tonight, marking the first time he’s been on the show since December. McIntyre was temporarily written off WWE TV due to neck issues at last month’s Day 1 pay-per-view.

McIntyre was attacked backstage by Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss after defeating Moss at Day 1. At the Royal Rumble last Saturday, McIntyre made his surprise return as an entrant in the men’s Royal Rumble match. He eliminated both Corbin and Moss.

McIntyre made it to the final two of the men’s Royal Rumble before being eliminated by Brock Lesnar.

WWE wrote about McIntyre’s appearance on tonight’s show:

After suffering a two-on-one backstage attack from Happy Corbin & Madcap Moss at WWE Day 1, former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre made a shocking comeback in last Saturday’s Royal Rumble Match, returning from his severe neck injury months earlier than expected! In addition to sending both Corbin and Moss over the top rope, The Scottish Warrior battled all the way to the end of the high-stakes free-for-all before being the last Superstar eliminated by the victorious Brock Lesnar.

Tonight, McIntyre’s path of destruction resumes when he makes his explosive return to SmackDown at 8/7 C on FOX.

Tonight’s SmackDown is taking place at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Here’s the updated lineup for the show:

  • Women’s Royal Rumble winner Ronda Rousey will reveal which championship she’s going to challenge for at WrestleMania 38
  • Paul Heyman will rejoin Roman Reigns and address why he betrayed Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble
  • Drew McIntyre appears
