Comedian Gabriel Iglesias reacts to Hulk Hogan getting booed on WWE Raw: ‘That was painful’

Comedian Gabriel Iglesias thinks WWE should have expected the negative reaction Hulk Hogan received on Raw’s Netflix premiere.

Hogan was booed by the Los Angeles crowd on Monday night, a story that has received some significant media coverage since it happened. Iglesias is a huge wrestling fan and was a guest on Monday’s Raw episode. While being interviewed on The Rich Eisen Show yesterday, he gave his thoughts on Hogan getting booed. Iglesias said it was a painful experience, but he thinks WWE should have known better given where the show took place and the prominent role Hogan played in supporting Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

“That was painful watching Hulk Hogan get booed last night,” Iglesias said. “I’m like, ‘Wow.’ Yeah, from great to hate. That was ugly. That was ugly. But, I mean, at the same time — WWE should have known better. You know that Hulk Hogan’s been out there on this political train, trying to sell his beer and trying to be on the Trump train. So you take somebody like that and you put them in a blue state, in LA, what else was going to happen? That might be the reaction.”

In advance of Raw’s Netflix premiere, it was announced that Hogan’s Real American Beer is now an official partner of WWE. As part of the deal, WWE has received a minority ownership stake in the beer brand. The Real American Beer logo will be featured on the corner of the ring mat for every episode of Raw.

Iglesias was shown in the crowd during Raw’s Netflix premiere and was also involved in a backstage segment with The New Day. His new comedy special — “Legend of Fluffy” — debuted on Netflix yesterday.

This was Hogan’s first live appearance on WWE programming in two years. He is featured in the commercial for the next edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, though he has not been announced as appearing on that January 25 show.
