Cody Rhodes to challenge for United States title on WWE Raw

Cody Rhodes is getting his first title shot since returning to WWE.

WWE has announced that Rhodes will challenge Theory for the United States Championship on tonight’s WrestleMania Backlash fallout edition of Raw. The show is being held at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

At WrestleMania Backlash, Rhodes picked up his second straight win against Seth Rollins. Rollins tried to pin Rhodes with an O’Connor Roll while holding onto his tights, but Rhodes returned the favor by reversing the pin and then holding onto Rollins’ tights for extra leverage.

Rhodes also defeated Rollins when they faced off in Rhodes’ return match at WrestleMania 38.

Theory won the United States Championship by defeating Finn Balor on the April 18 episode of Raw. This will be his first title defense.
