Cody Rhodes comments on The Rock’s WWE in-ring future

Cody Rhodes believes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has plenty left in the tank as an in-ring competitor.
While being interviewed by Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Rhodes said it was an “honor” to share the ring with The Rock at WrestleMania 40 night one. During that experience, Rhodes felt like The Rock showed he still has so much left to offer as a wrestler. He reiterated that his challenge for a one-on-one match against The Rock still stands.
“Offer still stands,” Rhodes said. “And again, if he never comes back, he’s done it all. He really has. And as much as I insulted him previously, it was an honor to be part of his last outing. But what I learned physically in the ring with him, it shouldn’t be his last outing. There’s more. There’s not just gas left in the tank, there might be multiple tanks. There’s more, and I would like the WWE Universe or pro wrestling fans, I’d like them to see that. I think there’s a world where, WWE Director of the Board — great, but I think there’s a world where WWE really benefits. And this young audience being able to connect with him, they don’t know him as the People’s Champ, they know him as the Final Boss. That offer stands whenever.”
WrestleMania 40 was The Rock’s first real pro wrestling match in more than a decade. He teamed with Roman Reigns to defeat Rhodes & Seth Rollins in a tag team bout. The finish of the match was Rock pinning Rhodes, setting the stage for a potential future singles match between the two.
Rhodes defeated Reigns at WrestleMania 40 night two and has now been Undisputed WWE Champion for 100 days and counting. He’ll be defending the title against Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam on Saturday, August 3.
The Rock has teased that he’ll be involved in the “biggest match of all time” at WrestleMania 41 next year.
