Cody Rhodes declares for WWE Royal Rumble match

Cody Rhodes finally has a return date.

During Monday’s WWE Raw, a third vignette aired of Rhodes rehabbing his torn pectoral muscle following surgery. At the end, he said that since he came back at last year’s WrestleMania, he’s made it crystal clear what he wants and at the Royal Rumble, he would be back.

Rhodes has been out of action since last June, suffering a pectoral tear just days before he was to meet Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell. Despite the injury, he worked the match injured, scoring a win over Rollins. The next day, Rollins attacked Rhodes with a sledgehammer, writing him off television.

Vignettes have aired over the last few weeks, first documenting Rhodes’ return to WWE starting at WrestleMania 38 last year against Rollins. The second vignette showed Rhodes suffering the injury and wrestling Rollins at the aforementioned pay-per-view.

This year’s Royal Rumble will take place at San Antonio, Texas’ Alamodome on Saturday, January 28th.
