CM Punk says locker room ‘cancer’ label is biggest misconception about him

CM Punk says he is greatly misunderstood.
During Fanatics Fest this weekend, Punk appeared on a live episode of Busted Open Radio, where he was asked about his relationship with his fanbase.
“I think I’m greatly misunderstood. I always love the fans, I’m very vocal about the bad ones though, so I think those are the stories that people tend to harp on,” Punk responded. “I spent I don’t know how much money buying 20,000 ice cream bars for the fans in Chicago, so…”
Host Dave LeGreca then asked Punk what he feels is the biggest misconception people have about him.
“That I’m a cancer or whatever certain people in your line of work have tried to say about me,” Punk responded. “I think that’s just foolish.”
Punk also teased some potential surprises for fans at upcoming WWE shows in Chicago, similar to the ice cream bars given out at AEW The First Dance in 2021.
“More surprises in store if you plan to attend any shows in Chicago in the near future, wink wink, nudge nudge,” he said.
WWE returns to Chicago on October 1 for a live episode of NXT at the Allstate Arena. Punk is advertised for the show.
Punk made similar comments about his backstage reputation earlier in the weekend during a live interview with The Masked Man Show, also during Fanatics Fest. He said:
“Listen, not everybody gets nice me but I treat you accordingly. If you are a piece of shit and you act that way to me, I will treat you that way. If you’re nice, you’re smiling, you want to have a good time, let’s have a good time, I’m all hugs.”
