CM Punk feels ‘rejuvenated as a whole’ at this stage of his career
CM Punk says working with wrestlers like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Gunther has left him feeling “rejuvenated.”
The 46-year-old was a guest on Comicbook Nation’s podcast recently, promoting both his role in the TV series The Revival and his upcoming World Heavyweight Championship match against Gunther at WWE SummerSlam. He said that getting to work with top talent like Gunther at this stage in his career means a lot to him.
Punk said:
“Listen, everything I’m doing on screen, on television, wrestling wise now, it’s like extra credit. It’s a dream come true. I feel like I don’t know when the roller coaster ride ends for me. I want to squeeze as much out of it as I can. Being able to work with the top talkers, wrestlers, minds in the industry has just rejuvenated me as a whole. So anytime I get to work with Paul, Roman, even Seth. Guys like that they tend to bring the best out of me, and in turn, I feel like I bring the best out of them. And it’s been a trip. I’m really enjoying everything I’m doing.”
Punk also said he likely doesn’t have enough time left in his career to wrestle everyone he’d like to, but noted that his upcoming SummerSlam opponent is at the top of his list.
“Just getting able to lace up my boots and lock up with Gunther at this stage in my career is more important to me than anything.”
“I’m surrounded every day by such talented people, and I don’t think I have the time to be able to work with all of them, especially at the extent that I want to. So, I’m not trying to do a speedrun and just share a ring with everybody, but Gunther’s at the top of the list of people that I look at as not only the present, they’re definitely the future of the business.”
“Bron Breakker, Chad Gable, Damian Priest, there’s all these guys that I look at and I’m like, ‘Oh man, I want to get in there with them’ and I immediately start just cooking up ideas.”
Punk is also promoting his role in the TV series The Revival, based on the comic book series of the same name. He plays drug dealer Anthony “Tony” Check on the show. His full interview with Comicbook Nation is available below:
