CM Punk details interaction with Jesse Ventura: One of the ‘coolest things’ ever

CM Punk got to have a special interaction with Jesse Ventura at WWE Raw this Monday.

With Raw taking place from Ventura’s home state of Minnesota, the former governor was at the show visiting. He did not appear in front of the crowd, but a social media video of Paul “Triple H” Levesque greeting Ventura earlier in the day was shown on television. Michael Cole welcomed Ventura back home to WWE.

Ventura tweeted out photos he took with Punk and Damian Priest at Raw. On the SI Media podcast, Punk detailed the interaction between him and Ventura and called it one of the coolest things that’s ever happened in his life.

“I saw Governor Ventura the other day,” Punk said. “Absolutely 100 percent blown away. One of the coolest things that’s ever happened to me in my life is he tells me that he saw I came back — and he said, ‘The place must have changed. If Punk’s back, I’ll go back.'”

Punk added that he can’t take credit for Ventura being back in the WWE fold.

“I can’t take credit for it, but I think a guy like me being back I think speaks volumes,” Punk said. “Obviously it does.”

Ventura revealed earlier this year that he was in negotiations for a WWE Legends contract. Ventura said he was willing to talk with WWE again due to the company going in a new direction with Vince McMahon no longer involved.

In 2004, Ventura was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. He was both a wrestler and commentator during his legendary career.

Punk made his own return to WWE last November. He suffered a torn triceps in the Royal Rumble but will be back in action when he faces off against Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam this Saturday. Seth Rollins will serve as the special guest referee for the match.
