Carmella on WWE departure: ‘I feel like I’m being punished because I had a baby’

Carmella didn’t like the way her tenure with WWE ended.

The now former WWE star on Instagram released a preview of her appearance on the Barely Famous podcast that will premiere in full this Friday. In the clip, Carmella said she feels like she is being punished for having a child during her two-year absence, saying the choice to leave the company wasn’t hers.

“It just feels like a sh***y way to end a twelve year career with the company,” she said. “Like, this is how it ended.”

“I got a call saying that my contract was up in ten days…ghosted. Ghosted, completely ghosted. What if this is the end of my career? Like, what am I doing with my life? What do I have to offer? Why wasn’t I given an opportunity somewhere else…I feel like I’m being punished because I had a baby.”

When the host suggested WWE could change their minds, Carmella didn’t seem interested.

“Why would you want to be somewhere that doesn’t want you?,” she added. “I wish more for women in general and moms and especially athletes. I feel like you shouldn’t have to choose one. Why can’t you have both?”

Carmella last wrestled in March of 2023 and gave birth to a son that fall. She has been suffering from drop foot, a complication from her pregnancy.
