Carmella becomes top contender to WWE SmackDown Women’s title

Carmella is the new number one contender to the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

The main event of tonight’s SmackDown saw Carmella defeat Naomi, Alexa Bliss, and Dana Brooke in a fatal four-way match to become the number one contender to Bayley’s title.

The finish of the match was Carmella pinning Naomi after hitting two superkicks. Naomi had gotten her knees up when Alexa Bliss went for Twisted Bliss. Naomi then hit the Rear View on Bliss, but Carmella broke up the pin.

Bayley attacked Carmella after the match.

Naomi returned to SmackDown last week, confronted Bayley, and wanted the next shot at her title. Bayley was at ringside for tonight’s number one contender’s match and threw Naomi into the steel steps at one point after they brawled.

In an email that WWE sent out promoting SmackDown today, a graphic said that the winner of the fatal four-way match would face Bayley at Super ShowDown. WWE didn’t announce that on SmackDown and hasn’t mentioned it anywhere else.
