Brian Kendrick vs. Rich Swann set for next week’s 205 Live premiere

The WWE Cruiserweight Championship will be on the line on next week’s premiere episode of 205 Live.

Rich Swann won a triple threat match over former champion TJ Perkins and Noam Dar on tonight’s episode of Raw to get a shot at Brian Kendrick’s title on the debut episode of the new WWE Network cruiserweight show. With Kendrick on commentary, Swann picked up the win by pinning Perkins after a kick.

Swann had been being groomed as the next challenger for the title, including getting the win for his team during the Survivor Series pre-show cruiserweight six-man tag. Kendrick retained the title at Survivor Series against SmackDown’s Kalisto in a match where the entire division was on the line after Baron Corbin involved himself in the match.

WWE announced the debut of 205 Live earlier this month, citing the success of this summer’s Cruiserweight Classic on the Network as a reason for the new show. Dave Meltzer noted when it was announced that angles would be shot on Raw leading to the show on Tuesdays.

205 Live will debut on the Network next Tuesday a 10 p.m. ET. Talking Smack will now air at 11 p.m. ET with the addition of the series.
