Braun Strowman undergoes successful elbow surgery

Braun Strowman has undergone surgery for his elbow injury.

WWE.com announced last night that Strowman underwent successful surgery in Birmingham, Alabama. Further details, including a timetable for Strowman’s return to the ring, weren’t provided.

Strowman also tweeted after having surgery: “The countdown to my return and your end starts now. #TickTock”

Dave Meltzer reported last week that Strowman would be undergoing surgery for bone spurs in his elbow and that Strowman’s scheduled tables, ladders, and chairs match against Baron Corbin at TLC on December 16 was at risk. Meltzer wrote that the extent of the damage to Strowman’s elbow and the timetable for his return wouldn’t be known until they opened his elbow up.

WWE explained Strowman’s injury with an angle where Corbin, Bobby Lashley, and Drew McIntyre attacked it and smashed it between two sets of steel steps on the November 19 edition of Raw. In storyline, WWE claimed that Strowman’s elbow was “shattered.” Strowman vs. Corbin was announced for TLC earlier on that episode.

Strowman vs. Corbin includes a stipulation where Strowman will challenge for Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble if he defeats Corbin. If Corbin wins, he’ll become the permanent general manager of Raw. But if Corbin loses, he’ll lose all of his GM power.
