Becky Lynch’s WWE contract expiring, expected to take time off

On Monday night, Becky Lynch wrestled the last match on her current WWE contract.
Lynch lost to Liv Morgan in a steel cage match in the main event of Raw. It was Lynch’s rematch for the Women’s World Championship after losing the title to Morgan at King & Queen of the Ring over the weekend. Both matches involved Dominik Mysterio, apparently inadvertently, interfering to help Morgan win.
After Raw went off the air, Lynch took some time in the ring selling her loss and received a “Thank you, Becky” chant from the fans. She acknowledged the crowd before leaving the ring. She then made the following post on social media:
Lynch’s WWE contract is set to expire this week. Fightful notes that June 1 is the date it’s scheduled to expire.
Dave Meltzer reports that it’s expected Lynch will be taking some time off from WWE.
One of Lynch’s colleagues told PWTorch that Lynch “will return to WWE some day.” The colleague is confident that WWE and Lynch can work out a new deal, “especially with her husband Seth Rollins being a full-time wrestler there, but her body and mind could use a break for a while.”
Uncertainty about Lynch’s future was worked into the story for Monday’s Raw. There was a segment during the show where Lynch gave Lyra Valkyria a pep talk before her match against Kairi Sane. Lynch told Valkyria that you keep winning or learning “until it’s time to walk away.”
Rollins recently signed a new “big money” multi-year contract with WWE. He and Lynch have been married since 2021 and have one child together, a three-year-old daughter named Roux.
