The Albuquerque Police Department issued a criminal warrant Monday for UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones on the felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injuries.

As of 9 PM EST Monday night, Jones was reported to be in custody after turning himself in according to Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com. The woman whose car Jones allegedly hit — Vanessa Sonnenberg — suffered a fractured arm and a fractured wrist.

Earlier today, it was reported that an off-duty officer that is a UFC fan saw Jones fleeing the scene of the three car accident, caused after he allegedly ran a red light. Marijuana and a marijuana pipe was found in the rental car Jones was allegedly driving.

As expected, UFC has yet to make any announcement on Jones’ upcoming title defense against Anthony Johnson in late-May, set to main event a major PPV. The champion has had his share of issues over the past few years including his recent issues with cocaine that resulted in him doing a one-day stay in a rehab facility.

With all of the distractions surrounding Jones and this latest miscue, him following through with the fight seems highly unlikely. As always, stay tuned.
