UFC on ESPN+ 37 live results: Marlon Moraes vs. Cory Sandhagen

The Octagon remains on Fight Island for the third of five events, this time with a 13-fight card headlined by a bantamweight fight that could have title shot implications.

Former title challenger Marlon Moraes looks to score his second straight win when he battles Cory Sandhagen in the five-round main event. Moraes last fought in December, scoring a close decision win over Jose Aldo at UFC 245. Sandhagen is looking to rebound from a loss in his last appearance inside the Octagon when he was submitted by Aljamain Sterling at UFC 250.

In the co-main event, Edson Barboza looks to end his three-fight losing skid and get his first win at 145 pounds when he takes on short-notice replacement Makwan Amirkhani. Also on the main card is a heavyweight tilt pitting Ben Rothwell against Marcin Tybura.

Silva starts off with some leg kicks. Silva with a combo followed by a hard leg kicks. Ulanbekov with a left hook. Silva with another hard leg kick as Ulanbekov comes forward. Ulanbekov with some punches. They trade leg kicks. Silva lands a couple more hard leg kicks. He lands some more. Ulanbekov shoots for a takedown but Silva defends and ends up on top before they scramble up. Silva lands a knee in the clinch before Ulanbekov gets a takedown. They get to their feet and break. They trade in close range. Silva with a spin kick to the leg of Ulanbekov at the end. 10-9 Silva.

They trade to start the second. Ulanbekov with the jab. They were trading and Ulanbekov scores a takedown. Both landing on the ground as they get to their feet. Ulanbekov gets another takedown but they get back up. Ulanbekov has the back of Silva standing. They scramble, break and trade and then clinch against the fence. Ulanbekov gets another takedown and is pressuring from the top but they scramble back up. They clinch back against the fence and Silva gets a late takedown. 10-9 Ulanbekov, 19-19.

They trade early and Silva with a leg kick followed by a nice jab. They trade in close range. Ulanbekov is having trouble putting weight on his lead leg as they exchange. Ulanbekov shoots for a takedown and Silva sprawls out of it. Ulanbekov shoots again and Silva defends again. Silva trips up Ulanbekov and pushes him to the mat but they scramble up. Silva pulls guard and then sweeps to the top. Ulanbekov transitions to his feet and they break. Ulanbekov with a knee in the clinch and they remain tied up. Silva tries a trip and Ulanbekov takes his back and then gets him to the mat. They stand and Ulanbekov gets another takedown but Silva rolls to the sprawl position and they stand. Silva goes for a takedown with less than a minute left. They break and Ulanbekov with a right hand. They clinch and trade to the body. Both men are swinging as the fight ends. Women’s Bantamweights

Egger with a leg kick to start. Egger lands a right hand. They trade and Cortez grabs the back standing but they break. Cortez lands a right hand and Egger slips to the mat for a second. Cortez gets a takedown. Cortez working from the top but nothing much is happening. Cortez with some hammerfists and Egger goes for an armbar but they scramble and Cortez gets the back of Egger. They work their way to their feet and are clinched against the fence. They scramble at the end. 10-9 Cortez.

Cortez gets a takedown to start the second and is landing punches from the top. Egger trying to attack the leg but Cortez defending from the top and landing more punches. Egger lands a hard upkick that almost put Cortez out and then grabs the back of Cortez. Cortez clears the leg and ends up back in the guard of Egger. Cortez continues to land punches from the top and lands a couple of elbows. Cortez gets the back as the round ends. 10-9 Cortez, 20-18 Cortez.

Cortez with a switch kick as she comes forward. Egger goes for a takedown against the fence and completes it but Cortez posts up and gets to her feet. They’re clinched against the fence and Cortez lands a few knees. Egger tries for a trip but misses and Cortez grabs the back as they scramble to the mat. They stand and Cortez gets another takedown as she maintains back control. They stand and Cortez gets an easy takedown against the fence. Cortez with some punches as she gets the back of Egger. Cortez with more punches at the end. 10-9 Cortez, 30-27 Cortez.

Morales with a right hand and then Chikadze lands a body kick and follows with a left hand. Morales keeps coming forward. Chikadze then drops Morales with a right hand and then gets on top and starts throwing lots of punches and is looking to finish. Morales is able to defend and gets to his feet. Bantamweights

Kelley with a leg kick to start. AlQaisi lands a leg kick. AlQaisi gets a takedown and is in the guard of Kelley. Kelley looks for a triangle choke but AlQaisi gets out and then grabs the neck as Kelley is in the sprawl position. AlQaisi now has body control. AlQaisi with some knees to the thighs. AlQaisi looks to grab the neck and has it and is looking for a guillotine choke. He has it locked in from the full guard amd Kelley is fighting it. Kelley is able to escape and they scramble to their feet. AlQaisi gets a takedown and Kelley is looking for a triangle choke. Kelley looking for an armbar. AlQaisi in trouble. Kelley has the armbar locked in tight but AlQaisi escapes out of it as the round ends. 10-9 Kelley.

They are trading to start the second. AlQaisi with a leg kick. Kelley lands a right hand. Kelley with a leg kick as AlQaisi is going for a takedown. They are tied up and AlQaisi has the neck but they separate. AlQaisi lands a left hook. Kelley lands a right hand and then lands another and an elbow in the clinch. They scramble to the mat and Kelley is on top and landing elbows from the top. AlQaisi able to get to the top and is in side control and then moves to Kelley’s full guard. They go straight to the clinch and AlQaisi gets a body lock takedown but they get right back to their feet. Kelley hurts AlQaisi with a knee to the chin and they go to the mat and Kelley is on top. They scramble up to their feet. AlQaisi tries a takedown but Kelley ends up on top and they get to their feet. AlQaisi with some short leg kicks as Kelley lands some punches. Kelley with a knee to the body. AlQaisi with a spinning back fist that rocks Kelley and then does it again. AlQaisi with a leg kick. Kelley lands a groin shot and we have a timeout. They get back to action and Kelley with a body kick. AlQaisi with a couple of leg kicks. They trade in close range with less than a minute left. AlQaisi with a leg kick as Kelley lands a jab. They clinch and AlQaisi with a late takedown but they get up. Real good fight. They have words after it was over. 10-9 Kelley, 30-27 Kelley.

Middleweights

Kasanganay with a short left hook. They are throwing big punches and Buckley rocks Kasanganay with a flurry and they clinch against the fence. They break and both are throwing big punches. They tie up and Buckley gets an inside trip takedown. Buckley lands an elbow from the top. They get to their feet. They break and Kasanganay lands a knee. Kasanganay lands a right hand. They trade in close range. Kasanganay lands a combo. Buckley lands some punches. Kasanganay with a right hand. Buckley just misses a jumping knee. 10-9 Buckley.

Kasanganay with some leg kicks to start the second. Both are throwing but neither landing. Kasanganay with an inside leg kick. They trade in close range. Kasanganay lands a knee. They trade punches. Buckley then lands a jump spinning back right to the jaw of Kasanganay and Kasanganay goes out cold. That might be the best knockout of the year. What a finish by Buckley.

Daukaus drops Nascimento with a left hand right away and then gets on top and is landing some elbows. Daukaus stands and lands a big right hand. Nascimento gets back to his feet and then Daukaus drops him again with a left and it is stopped. Impressive knockout by Daukaus.

Middleweights

Bhullar is making his UFC debut. Breese with a powerful leg kick. Bhullar lands a couple of leg kicks. Breese lands a straight left hand and then another. Breese then drops Bhullar with a stepping jab and then swarms on top of Bhullar with punches as Bhullar is covering up and this fight is stopped. Impressive stoppage by Breese.

Topuria is making his UFC debut. Zalal is circling around early and lands some body kicks. Topuria lands a couple of punches. They clinch and Topuria goes for a takedown and Zalal defends. Topuria gets a big suplex slam and moves right into the mount. Topuria looking for a choke from the top as he works for an anaconda choke. Zalal using the fence to try and escape. Zalal is out of that and then Topuria lockes in a deep guillotine choke. Zalal is fighting it hard. Topuria switches back to an anaconda choke. Zalal gets out but Topuria has the back as they stand. They break and Zalal survives the round. 10-9 Topuria.

Zalal goes for a single-leg takedown to start the second and pushes Topuria against the fence. Zalal working hard for the takedown against the fence. Topuria lands a knee to the body and then some elbows as Zalal is still working for a takedown. They break and Zalal with a left hand. Topuria lands a right hand. Topuria gets a takedown. Zalal looks for a triangle attempt from the bottom but Topuria escapes and grabs the neck. Topuria looks for a mounted guillotine but Zalal gets out. Topuria almost had it locked in again but Zalal gets out again. Zalal able to scramble out from the bottom to his feet. Zalal jumps on his back standing but Topuria ends up on top as the round ends. 10-9 Topuria, 20-18 Topuria.

Topuria gets a takedown to start the third and is working for a choke again. Zalal is able to escape and they scramble to their feet. Topuria gets another takedown and Zalal is going for a guillotine from the bottom but Topuria is able to pop his head out. Topuria is able to get the back of Zalal but Zalal spins to the top and then they get to their feet. Topuria is backing up and Zalal lands some punches. Topuria is gassed and Zalal is landing kicks and punches. Topuria ducks under a kick and gets a brief takedown but they scramble up. They break. Zalal tries a flying knee but Topuria catches him and takes him down as the fight ends. 10-9 Topuria, 30-27 Topuria.

Du Plessis with a body kick and Perez grabs the leg and lands a right hand and then Du Plessis lands a counter strike. Perez with a combo. Du Plessis with a combo as he comes forward. They were in close range and Perez was going for an elbow and Du Plessis landed a counter left hand that caused Perez to face plant and the fight was over. Du Plessis with an impressive knockout in his debut.
