Henry Cejudo suffered burns, didn’t break ankle in California wildfires

Refuting a report from the San Francisco Chronicle, Henry Cejudo told MMA Fighting that he didn’t break his ankle while fleeing the destructive wildfires in Northern California.
Cejudo was a guest at former NFL player Ronnie Lott’s celebrity golf tournament and was staying at the Fountaingrove Inn in Santa Rosa, California yesterday when it was affected by the fires. The San Francisco Chronicle wrote that Cejudo broke his ankle jumping from a second-story balcony trying to escape the hotel, but Cejudo clarified that he only suffered burns on his foot.
The Olympic Gold Medal that Cejudo won in 2008 was lost in the fire.
Cejudo is scheduled to face Sergio Pettis at UFC 218 in Detroit, Michigan on December 2nd. Ariel Helwani noted that it was unclear if that would go on as planned, though Yahoo’s Kevin Iole tweeted that Cejudo is heading to Brazil to start his training camp.
Thirteen people have died and roughly 150 have been reported missing in the wildfires. All of us send our thoughts to everyone in Northern California who has been affected by them.
