ROH Women’s Champion Athena ‘a little beat up,’ should be 100 percent soon

After an injury scare, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena should be back in action soon.

Athena appeared to get hurt while facing Viva Van in a match taped for ROH television on May 16. According to live reports, Athena looked to have hurt her lower leg. She couldn’t put weight on it and needed help leaving.

Tony Khan gave an update on Athena’s status during Sunday’s post-AEW Double or Nothing media scrum. He said Athena is a little beat up right now but is going to be 100 percent “very soon.”

“Athena might be the best wrestler in the world and is the Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion. And she is a little beat up herself right now,” Khan said. “But she is going to be 100 percent very soon as we are bringing ROH and AEW to Texas — her home state and actually Dallas, her home city.”

AEW and the city of Arlington, Texas are partnering together for a residency at Arlington’s Esports Arena this summer. From July 20 through August 27, AEW/ROH will hold six events at the venue. That includes ROH’s Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view and five episodes of AEW Collision.

Death Before Dishonor takes place on Friday, July 26.

Athena’s reign as ROH Women’s World Champion surpassed the 500-day mark last month. She’s been champion since December 2022.
