ROH TV results: All Star Extravaganza go-home show

Ring of Honor television from this past week was the go-home show for All Star Extravaganza. The focus of the show was hyping tonight’s PPV.

Silas Young defeated Toru Yano

Toru Yano did some comedy throughout the match. He made Silas Young chase him around the ring. Yano tried to remove a turnbuckle pad, which is part of his gimmick in Japan. Since the pads are a different style in America, he was unable to remove it at first.

Later in the match, Yano used a pair of snips to cut the ties holding one of the pads, and he removed it. However, Yano got sent into the exposed turnbuckle and Young rolled him up, held the tights, and got the pinfall.

Young continued assaulting Yano after the match, beating him down. The Briscoes ran down to make the save. Briscoes will team with Yano in the six-man tournament at the PPV tonight.

Christopher Daniels cut the promo of a lifetime. He talked about his career, his personal life, and how this run with the tag team titles has meant so much. ROH posted the promo on YouTube, and it is a must see.

“Punishment” Damian Martinez w/ Kevin Sullivan & BJ Whitmer defeated Cheeseburger

Martinez’s gimmick is the monster heel in an occult stable. He pummeled Cheeseburger and finished him off with a chokeslam before getting the pin.

The match itself was a backdrop for continuing the story with Steve Corino. Kevin Sullivan provided guest commentary and he got into a heated discussion with Corino concerning their recent history. Corino wanted to know the reason for Sullivan’s evil deeds. Sullivan gave Corino a spike and invited him to meet him somewhere in the desert. Sullivan insisted Corino was his son.

In running down the card in a hard sell for tonight’s PPV, promos aired featuring Bobby Fish, Jay Lethal, and Adam Cole as they plugged their matches.

Hiroshi Tanahashi & Michael Elgin defeated Adam Cole & Hangman Page

Kyle O’Reilly provided guest commentary. Corino was still obsessing and ranting about the spike and Sullivan.

The difference between the long-term booking in ROH compared to the more short term booking in WWE was evident here. This episode was taped the day after the last PPV a few months ago, but the direction for tonight’s PPV was evident even then. Michael Elgin will challenge Adam Cole for the ROH World Championship on the PPV, which was the focus of this tag match.

Elgin shined in the early portion of the match. Bullet Club then worked over Hiroshi Tanahashi until he snapped Hangman Page with a spinning neckbreaker and tagged out. Elgin proceeded to clean house. Cole and Elgin squared off in a tease for the main event of tonight’s PPV. After getting heat on Tanahashi, Elgin ran wild off a hot tag. He squared off with Page and delivered a buckle bomb. Elgin then executed a powerbomb and covered Page for the pin.

The show closed with staredown between Cole and Elgin ahead of their PPV main event.

Live coverage for All Star Extravaganza begins tonight at 9 p.m. ET.

On the next episode of ROH TV, highlights from the Field of Honor event at MCU ballpark.
