**********
The show started with a recap of Final Battle before Athena bragged about her win with Lexy Nair. She wasn’t happy with Lexy’s hesitation at handing her the title at Final Battle and would take it out on her opponent tonight.
The Von Erichs (Marshall von Erich & Ross von Erich) (w/Kevin von Erich) defeated The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake)
The Workhorsemen came out to start the in-ring portion of the show. JD Drake ran down Texas and Texas wrestling, saying that they would prove that Texas wrestling was trash. Ross started with Drake, dropkicking him into a tag to Henry who walked into an arm drag. Marshall tagged in and took Henry down with a dropkick. After a double dropkick to Henry, Ross got forced to the floor where Drake leveled him with a punch. The Workhorsemen hit a double team on Ross before mocking the claw to Kevin’s face on the outside.
Ross moved out of the way of a big Drake splash before tagging Marshall, who ran wild on Henry. Henry tried to cut him off with a kick, but Marshall came back with a main event spinebuster for a nearfall. Henry slid away to tag Drake, who landed a Magnum-style belly-to-belly on Henry. Drake went for a Vader Bomb, but Marshall moved and locked on the claw. Henry tagged in and cut off the claw with a double stomp.
The Workhorsemen hit Nine To Five on Marshall, but Ross broke the pin. After Ross dropped Henry on the floor with a Slingblade, Marshall moved out of the way of a moonsault from Drake. Marshall hit a moonsault of his own to score the win for the Von Erichs. After the match, Henry attacked the brothers before Kevin caught him with the claw to a huge pop. Marshall and Ross dropkicked him out of the ring and celebrated with their father.
We got a recap of Kyle Fletcher’s TV Title win in the Survival of the Fittest match at Final Battle.
ROH Women’s World Title Proving Ground Match – Athena (w/Billie Starkz) defeated Maya World
The announcers noted that World was a rookie, having trained under Athena in Texas. World got a lot of offense in on Athena, scoring a nearfall with a snap Falcon Arrow. Athena moved out of the way of a split-legged moonsault and hit the O-Face for the win. After the match, Athena raised World’s arm in approval before dropping her with a forearm.
Tony Khan came to the stage to make an announcement. He introduced the Ring of Honor Women’s World Television Championship.
(There are a lot of women in ROH, and this title gives them something to work towards. I wonder how this affects Athena’s title reign.)
Dante Martin defeated Lee Johnson
These two wrestled to a stalemate to start, trading arm drags until Martin caught Johnson with a superkick for a nearfall. Johnson came back with a dropkick before taking Martin down with a suplex. Johnson hit a pair of clotheslines before both men booted each other down. Martin evaded Johnson in the corner before hitting a big crossbody that sent Johnson to the floor.
Martin followed Johnson out with a dive, but as soon as Martin threw Johnson into the ring, Johnson came back with a dive of his own. In the ring, Martin tried to evade Johnson, but Johnson caught him off of a springboard with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a nearfall. Martin flipped Johnson inside out with a reverse gutwrench throw. Martin hit an elevated knee strike on Johnson, but Johnson moved out of the way of a double stomp and hit an offensive flurry, ending with a standing moonsault for a nearfall. Johnson reversed a half-nelson slam into a roll-up, but Martin kicked out and hit the half-nelson slam to score the win.
We got a video from Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky from after Final Battle. Page felt great after beating Tony Nese. He admitted that he didn’t really believe in his own words until recently, because now he’s truly confident in himself unlike a lot of people in the promotion. Scorpio Sky thanked Page for having his back through his TNT Title reign and was here to help Page fulfill his promise to his daughter to become a champion.
Gates Of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) (w/Prince Nana) defeated Blake Christian & Willie Mack
Kaun started with Christian, tossing him down with ease. Christian didn’t appreciate the disrespect, hitting Kaun with a dropkick before side-stepping him to the floor. After a Liona interjection, Kaun dumped Christian into the announce table and the ring post. Liona tagged in and sent Christian into the barricade before clubbering on him in the ring.
Christian slid out of a Kaun suplex to tag out to Mack, who ran wild. Mack set up a cannonball, but Kaun powered up into a shotgun dropkick. Both men made tags, and Christian sent Liona to the apron before sending Kaun to the floor again. Liona got in his way again, but this time Christian dove through Liona’s legs to dive onto Kaun. Christian hit a Fosbury Flop onto Kaun, but Liona caught Christian on another dive before spinning him out into a uranage.
Mack saved Christian from a Fall from Heaven but took a Pounce from Liona for his troubles. Christian tried to fight two-on-one, but after Kaun cut off a springboard with a dropkick, the Gates hit the Fall from Heaven for the win.
Tony Nese & Mark Sterling were tending to their wounds after Final Battle. Nese and Sterling passed the blame around for Nese’s loss, with Sterling noting that he had a plan to stack the deck in their favor for the future.
The Righteous (Dutch & Vincent) & Lance Archer defeated Iron Savages (Boulder, Bronson, & Jacked Jameson)
The Iron Savages are approaching my least favorite act in the Tony Khan Wrestling Universe. They’re so childish and off-putting.
After an opening exchange where the Savages got a short advantage over Vincent, a Righteous double team saw them isolate Bronson. Archer tagged in and leveled Bronson with a shoulder block. Bronson fought to the corner and tagged in Boulder, who ran wild. Dutch took down Boulder with a Black Hole Slam, then hit Bronson with the Black Out. Jameson tagged in while Archer set up the move but got pinned after Vincent hit Autumn Sunshine.
Cole Karter, Griff Garrison, and Maria were backstage. Maria felt like her song motivated them to victory last week and signed them for an eight-man tag match. The men weren’t happy with their partners, Angelico & Serpentico.
Taya Valkyrie (w/Johnny TV) defeated Vertvixen
Vertvixen hit Valkyrie with forearms before backing off and engaging her in a collar-and-elbow tie-up. Vertvixen sent Valkyrie to the floor with a dropkick before a Johnny TV interjection allowed Valkyrie to dump her on the apron with an Electric Chair Drop. Valkyrie hit the Meteora Knees in the corner for a nearfall. Vertvixen made a short comeback before Valkyrie tied her up in an STF.
Vertvixen got to the ropes before hitting a springboard kick for a nearfall. Valkyrie recovered and dropped Vertvixen with a Butterfly Drop before scoring the win with a Curb Stomp.
Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty were backstage. Both men were frustrated after their losses at Final Battle, with Moriarty feeling like he had hit a plateau. Moriarty decided to let it motivate him, as Taylor warned everyone that they couldn’t stop Shane Taylor Promotions.
Rachael Ellering (w/Leyla Hirsch & Maria) defeated Charlette Renegade (w/Robyn Renegade)
What are we doing here? Maria has no allegiance to these people. Just leave! Don’t manage them! Meanwhile, Ellering and Hirsch look like dopes for continuing to do business with her. I don’t understand any of this.
Ellering held firm control of Charlette to start until she got poked in the eye. Renegade hit a Perfect Plex on Ellering for a nearfall before locking on a Muta Lock. Ellering fought out and hit a pair of spinning elbows and a running senton. Ellering hit a cross-legged suplex for a nearfall. Renegade hit a main event spinebuster for a nearfall.
Robyn tried to get involved, but Hirsch ran her off on the floor. Maria once again hooked Ellering’s leg, but Ellering fought her off and hit a Bosswoman Slam for the win. After the match, Maria mockingly cheered Ellering as both her and Hirsch complained about Maria’s actions.
Johnny TV & Taya Valkyrie were backstage with Lexy Nair. Johnny trash-talked Dalton Castle, saying that he was more of a pigeon than a peacock.
After a recap of his elimination from Survival of the Fittest, Dalton Castle was backstage with Lexy Nair. Castle was despondent at his loss, noting that the Ring of Honor viewers were robbed by Johnny TV & Taya Valkyrie. He said that he would make them both pay.
Action Andretti & Darius Martin defeated The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd) & The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean)
The tags came quickly early on. The Outrunners ended up on the wrong side of both teams, with both teams working together to send Floyd into Magnum in the corner. Floyd got pinballed between both teams before Magnum pulled Floyd out of the way of a splash from Dean. The Outrunners isolated Dean, clubbering him on their side of the ring before Dean crotched Floyd on the ropes.
Bravo tagged in and ran wild on Magnum, hitting a scissor kick for a nearfall broken up by Martin. Andretti tagged Bravo as he went after Martin. Dean tagged Andretti after Andretti hit Bravo with a Spanish Fly and hit Magnum with a splash for a nearfall. Boot Camp was interrupted by Magnum, with Martin tagging in. Magnum went for a low blow on Martin, but he caught his partner Floyd instead. Andretti hit a running Shooting Star Press on Magnum for the win.
Dalton Castle, Gravity & The Boys (Brandon & Brent) vs. Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico), Cole Karter & Griff Garrison (w/Maria)
Gravity started with Serpentico, space-walking his way to the corner to tag in the Boys, who hit a double-team Eat Defeat for a nearfall. Garrison cut off Brandon from the floor, allowing his team to isolate Brandon in their corner. Brandon fought his way to the corner and tagged in Castle, who ran wild on everyone with suplexes.
The heels quadruple-teamed Castle until Castle snuck in a Bangarang attempt on Serpentico that knocked down Karter. Angelico saved Serpentico, but Karter started an argument with them that allowed Gravity & The Boys to run in and send them all to the floor. They hit dives, leaving Castle in the ring to hit Garrison with the Bangarang for the win.
El Hijo del Vikingo & Komander defeated Gringo Loco & Jack Cartwheel
Vikingo and Loco started, hitting fast paced lucha moves before tagging their partners in. Komander and Cartwheel kept the pace up, with both men cartwheeling out of each other’s moves until Komander sent Cartwheel to the floor with a rana. After a double down on the floor, Loco evaded Vikingo and hit a dive onto both opponents with a dive. Cartwheel hit a flagpole leg sweep on Komander before vaulting back into the ring with an elbow for a nearfall.
Cartwheel and Loco hit an innovative double-team, with Cartwheel dropkicking Komander’s face while Loco had him in tombstone position. Loco and Cartwheel isolated Komander until he vaulted his way to a tag. Vikingo sent both men to the floor before diving through Komander’s legs to hit a dive on Cartwheel. Komander then hit a moonsault onto Loco before celebrating with Vikingo.
Cartwheel avoided a frog splash, then hit a cartwheeling powerbomb on Komander for a nearfall. Vikingo tied Cartwheel in the ropes before hitting a step-up guillotine leg drop for a nearfall. Loco tagged in and caught Vikingo with a Torture Rack Falcon Arrow for a nearfall. Cartwheel hit a Sasuke Special to the floor, but Vikingo avoided a springboard moonsault. Komander hit a poisonrana to Cartwheel off of Vikingo’s shoulders before Vikingo hit the Meteora Knees in the corner. Komander hit the ropewalk Shooting Star Press for the win.
