Kenny Omega added to ROH Supercard of Honor XII

Another NJPW wrestler has been confirmed for Ring of Honor’s WrestleMania weekend show in New Orleans, Louisiana next year.
ROH announced today that Kenny Omega would be wrestling at Supercard of Honor XII in 2018. The show will take place at the UNO Lakefront Arena on Saturday, April 7th and will go against that weekend’s NXT TakeOver special.
Omega is the second wrestler to be announced for Supercard of Honor 2018, joining Hiroshi Tanahashi. ROH has yet to reveal any details about the matches they’ll be taking part in.
With both Omega and Tanahashi announced, it means NJPW isn’t running a major date at that time, and also means that much of the New Japan talent will likely be available. Normally NJPW runs a major show at Sumo Hall in Tokyo on that weekend, and thus, the New Japan stars haven’t been available to ROH for its annual Mania events.
Running the building on a weekend with so many tourists in town, and with Omega, the biggest non-WWE draw in the United States right now, is an attempt to break the company’s all-time attendance record of 3,500, which was set at last year’s Supercard of Honor in Lakeland, Florida. That show was headlined by The Young Bucks vs. The Hardys in a ladder match.
Before Supercard of Honor, Omega is set to wrestle at ROH’s shows in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on November 11th and in Lakeland on November 12th. He previously wrestled for the promotion at all four stops of their Global Wars tour last week, defeating YOSHI-HASHI to retain the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship at Sunday’s iPPV in Chicago.
