Jay Lethal revives ‘Black Machismo’ character at ROH Final Battle

Jay Lethal

For the first time in a Tony Khan-owned company, Jay Lethal’s “Black Machismo” character has debuted as Lethal brought it back during Friday’s Ring of Honor Final Battle from NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom.

Lethal took on QT Marshall during the streaming special and emerged as the tribute character to “Macho Man” Randy Savage, accompanied by Karen Jarrett who was dressed to look like Sensational Sherri (Martel) who was by Savage’s side for much of the notable “Macho King” era in WWE.

Lethal first debuted the character in 2006 while he was in TNA Wrestling. Commentator Ian Riccaboni said it was in honor of a new Jazwares action figure so it’s unclear if Lethal will continue with it past Friday.

For his part, Marshall was decked out as Savage during his NWO era (sans the logo), referring to “Marshall Madness” in the lead-up.

The 39-year-old Lethal picked up the victory in his first ROH action since May. He last appeared for AEW in late-August and has worked a handful of indie matches since then. He and Marshall squared off in ROH back in 2012 in a first round of the Survival of the Fittest tournament. In three singles matches against each other, Lethal is 3-0.
