Christopher Daniels vs. Cody set for ROH Best in the World

The main event for Ring of Honor’s next pay-per-view is set.
ROH announced last night that Cody Rhodes will challenge for Christopher Daniels’ World Championship in the main event of Best in the World on June 23rd.
Rhodes also challenged for the title at ROH’s War of the Worlds PPV earlier this month, which was in a triple threat match that also included Jay Lethal. While Rhodes had the figure four applied on Lethal, Daniels hit the Best Moonsault Ever on Rhodes and pinned him to retain the title.
The storyline coming out of War of the Worlds was that Rhodes wanted a one-on-one match against Daniels due to Lethal’s shoulders being on the mat in the figure four. Rhodes portraying himself as an outsider will likely also play into their title match, with him recently backing off claims that he had made about being ready to make a promotion his full-time pro wrestling home.
Rhodes tweeted about the match: “31 years. 31 years since a Rhodes has been THE World Champion. June 23rd. Best in the World. Lowell, MA. Can you imagine?”
The Lowell Memorial Auditorium will host Best in the World 2017 before an ROH TV taping also takes place at the venue the next night.
