WrestleCon SuperShow live results: Bandido vs. Bailey, Ishii vs. Thatcher

The annual Mark Hitchcock Memorial WrestleCon SuperShow is set for Thursday in Dallas, Texas, and will feature the usual mix of top indie talent, former WWE wrestlers, and a clash of current and former Ring of Honor stars.
Fans in attendance will vote on the best match with the talent involved splitting $5000.
In a potential match of the weekend candidate, Bandido will take on “Speedball” Mike Bailey for the third time.

Two New Japan stars will be in action as Minoru Suzuki takes on Biff Busick while Tomohiro Ishii battles Timothy Thatcher. Suzuki, Busick and Thatcher were all in action earlier at Bloodsport.
The Briscoes will take on a pair of former ROH World Champions in Low Ki and Homicide, known as The Rottweilers.
Athena, the former Ember Moon in WWE, will meet up with former rostermate Mia Yim in the latter’s first match since being released.
In a unique clash, real life couple John Morrison and Taya Valkyrie will go one-on-one.
In a trios match, Laredo Kid, Michael Oku and Rey Horus will face Ace Austin, Black Taurus and Josh Alexander while in a ten-match tag, Atsushi Onita will lead one team against PCO on the other team with the rosters being revealed tonight.

Bandido defeated Mike Bailey
This was a fantastic opener despite some slight errors here and there.
Bailey took it to Bandido early and the match spilled to the outside. When the bout returned to the ring, Bandido avoided a quick pump kick from Bailey with a handspring that popped the crowd big. Bandido would follow that up with a superkick, which would mark the moment in the match when he took control. Bandido did an insanely impressive stall suplex where the crowd counted all the way to 60 seconds, which obviously warranted a major reaction from the crowd.
Bailey recovered rather quickly from Bandido’s long-tenured move and delivered a flurry of offense that was capitalized on with his signature exchanging rapid kicks to the midsection. At this point in the match, both guys seemed to start getting weary but that turned out not to be the case as Bandido dived right onto Bailey on the outside into the barricade.
A striking exchange ensued on the apron, which Bailey would come out on top of. Bandido wouldn’t let up though, as he cut a cutter (that didn’t seem to land quite right) on the apron shortly after. Mike Bailey followed that up with an insane move of his own, hitting a shooting star knee drop on a standing Bandido.
The ending sequence of the match saw Bandido tease a 23-Plex, but would drive his knees into the back of Bailey instead. Shortly after, Bandido would follow through and actually hit the 23-Plex for the victory.

There was Bret Hart appearance and promo, but nothing he said was audible to the live feed.
Mia Yim defeated Athena
This was a great display of both women’s strengths, although Athena taking the heel side was interesting.
Athena and Yim tied up and both ladies tried to put a combination of strikes together, but nothing panned out. Yim would be the first to deliver a successful strike after sending Athena to the mat with a shoulder tackle. Yim would then take out the knee of Athena and follow that up with a dropkick that sent the former Ember Moon reeling to the outside.
Athena got frustrated and lured Yim to the outside, which led to Yim getting her shoulder pressed against the metal turnbuckle post. Athena then took advantage of the moment and kept her attention on the shoulder, delivering multiple strikes to it. Athena would throw to a couple of submissions in the center of the ring, but they didn’t work out and left those two at a stalemate yet again.
Athena popped up with a kip-up, but Yim followed her to the corner and delivered a great forearm. Athena would respond with a fantastic Alabama Slam for a near fall. After getting frustrated, Athena positioned Yim on the top rope and nailed her with a powerbomb from the top but she still couldn’t put Yim away. Athena would then push the referee down and grab a chair but before she got a chance to strike Yim with it, the referee regained his composure and caught her just in time. Yim took advantage of the distraction and nailed Athena with a package piledriver, which warranted her the victory.
Tomohiro Ishii defeated Timothy Thatcher
A slow paced match was needed, and these two delivered. Very hard hitting affair that felt like a New Japan match, for obvious reasons.
Thatcher took Ishii to the mat with a headlock very early on before bringing him back to his feet. After exchanging a flurry of strikes to the skull, Thatcher began to wear down Ishii with limb targeting. Ishii wouldn’t let it last for long though, and powered up through Thatcher’s strikes. Ishii seemed to be laying his stuff in more than Thatcher here. The two exchanged armbars before Thatcher turned back to his limb-targeting strategy.
Ishii once again rose up through both the crowd and Thatcher’s consistent flow of strikes. Ishii would try a Saito suplex but Thatcher turned it back into an armbar. Ishii reversed it quickly and hit a German suplex. Thatcher would keep dipping in the same well but it wouldn’t bode well for him, as Ishii dropped him on his head with a brainbuster for the victory in the following moments.
Taya Valkyrie defeated John Morrison in a Dirty Dishes match
Taya Valkyrie cut a promo before the match shooting on how John Morrison has become a slob at home. Valkyrie then brought out piles of dishes.
Morrison ran from Valkyrie early on and hid on the turnbuckle. When he was in a position too, Morrison shoved down Valkyrie much to the anger of the crowd. Valkyrie then retrieved a box of dishes from ringside, to which Morrison took advantage of by super kicking a plate into her face. Morrison then threw a bottle at Valkyrie and hit a cartwheel kick, busting it in her face. After that, Morrison sprayed Clorox on the back of her husband and scrubbed it into her back with sponges.
Valkyrie would respond by spraying Clorox in the eyes of Morrison, which sent him rolling to the outside. Taya took advantage of it and would punch Morrison in the groin before putting a bucket on his head and hitting a Canadian Destroyer for a near fall. Morrison sprayed Clorox in the eyes of the referee which allowed him to get away without kicking out of Taya’s next move, which was a piledriver.
The finish sequence saw Morrison hit a Starship Pain on Valkyrie with dishes laying across her stomach. Morrison then grabbed a microphone and called for Paro to bring out a literal kitchen sink. Taya would use it to her advantage more than Morrison would, as she wrapped the water hose around Morrison’s neck and curb stomped him into the sink for the win.
Laredo Kid, Rey Horus and Michael Oku defeated Ace Austin, Josh Alexander and Black Taurus
This was exactly what you would expect out of these six guys, and was reminiscent to the All In six-man main event from a few years ago.
Laredo Kid and Taurus started the back. Taurus was taken off his feet by Kid, to which Taurus returned the favor shortly after. Horus came in and delivered a body scissors to Taurus, who was sent reeling to the outside.
Austin and Oku came in, prompting Oku to deliver a knee to Austin to send him reeling. Alexander came in after Austin disappeared, which worked out because he nailed Oku with a great clothesline. Kid tried to springboard onto Alexander, but he was basically swatted out of the air.
After a few dives to the outside, things settled down. Oku somehow got the entire opposing team on the mat and applied a triple half crab that only lasted a few seconds. Horus came in and was up against all three members of the opposing team, but that didn’t matter as he planted both Alexander and Taurus with satellite DDTs. Kid would come off the top turnbuckle onto Austin and Taurus to an amazing reaction from the crowd.
Taurus and Kid eventually made it back in the ring and seemed to be legal. Kid hit a sideslam Spanish fly of some sort on Taurus. Kid and Horus were lifted up by Alexander and dumped on their back with a rotating driver. Taurus hit a press slam off the top rope on Kid, who is seemingly taking the majority of spots here. Taurus knocked Oku off the apron after he spiked Alexander on the floor with a poison rana.
The ending sequence of the match saw Kid, Horus, and Oku all take turns hitting top rope moves on Taurus. It ended up working out, as Oku would hit the final frog splash and successfully pin Taurus for the win.
Minoru Suzuki defeated Biff Busick
This seemed like it was on the right track until Busick was busted open.
The match immediately went to the mat. Suzuki kept Busick’s head locked between his knees for a good minute, which opened up a previous head wound. Busick, who was bleeding badly at this point, got shoved around at ringside by Suzuki while the referee checked on him.
The match came back to the ring and Suzuki rubbed his elbow into the head wound of Busick. Suzuki seemed to not have a care in the world for Busick, as he then bit his head. Busick tried to fight his way back in the match, but he could do very little because of the giant gash in his head. Suzuki would finish up the match shortly after delivering a stalling Gotch-Style piledriver for the victory.
Team Onita (Atsushi Onita, Rock N Roll Express, Juice Robinson, Colt Cabana) defeated Team PCO (PCO, NZO, Jimmy Wang Yang, Barry Horowitz, Dirty Dango)
This was quite terrible.
Horowitz and Cabana started the match. Horowitz took Cabana to the mat with a wrist lock slam, which led Cabana to tag out to Robinson. Horowitz tagged out to Dango, who tagged out to NZO. NZO hit a drop down slam, walked on the back of Robinson, and tagged out after taunting. Wang Yang came in and hit a standing moonsault before tagging out to PCO. PCO requested Onita to come in. The two went to the outside and Onita threw a venue chair into PCO before tossing him back in the ring.
I’m not sure what happened at this point in the match, but people started looking like they didn’t know what they were doing and came into the ring for no reason. Things got messy before PCO positioned Robinson on the apron and hit a moonsault, which actually landed for the first time I can remember.
The match got comically bad for a minute when PCO and Onita got in the ring and looked like snails moving around. Dango came in and caught a chair from Onita, but Onita waited about ten seconds until he did a move on Dango — who just stood there awkwardly with the chair.
The match ended shortly after with Onita sprayed mist in Dango’s face.
The Briscoes defeated The Rottweilers (Homicide & Low Ki)
This definitely wasn’t as good as it should have been, but given the circumstances the match probably had time cut from it.
A fan seemingly heckled Low Ki before the bell rang. Ki obviously wasn’t having it and almost beat up the fan before he was escorted out of the building. Homicide grabbed a microphone and cussed out the fan. Low Ki also cussed out the fan. For whatever reason, the fan was allowed to return to his seat.
The Briscoes hit a series of double team maneuvers on Low Ki before Homicide started throwing chairs in the ring. Jay Briscoe grabbed a microphone and changed the match to a no disqualification match.
The Rottweilers began tossing more things in the ring, including a ring bell. The two teams exchanged moves back and forth but no one move landed with purpose or effort seemingly.
The closing stretch of the match saw Homicide taunt towards the fan which allowed Jay to hit a suplex for a near fall that Low Ki broke up. Jay then lifted up Low Ki on his shoulders and tried to allow Mark to come off the top rope with a clothesline, but Low Ki ducked at the last second and scored a near fall on a pin attempt on Jay. Moments later, Jay laid out Low Ki and held him in place for Mark’s Froggy Bow elbow for the win.
$5000 winner:
Bailey and Bandido were voted up by the fans to split a $5000 award for best match of the night.
