VIDEO: Cain Velasquez addresses fans at AAA Tempe show

Cain Velasquez returned to the ring this weekend. 

The former two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion took part in Lucha Libre AAA’s show from the Mullet Arena in Tempe, Arizona on Saturday. He was granted special permission by a Santa Clara, California, judge to participate in the event while out on bail on attempted murder charges. 

MMA Fighting posted a video of Cain Velasquez addressing the fans after his match.

“To be here, in front of you guys, right now, it’s a dream come true. I truly appreciate it all, what you guys have always done, supporting me, my family.”

Velasquez teamed with Pagano and Blue Demon Jr. in the night’s semi-main event. They defeated Gringo Loco, Sam Adonis, and Taurus in trios competition. It was Velasquez’s first match since Triplemania Regia on December 4, 2021. 

After spending eight months in prison, Velasquez was granted bail set at $1 million on November 8. The charges he’s facing stem from a February incident in which he allegedly fired a weapon into a vehicle that contained several people including one who allegedly sexually assaulted both his child and one of a relative.
