NWA announces Alwayz Ready PPV for June

The NWA is heading to Knoxville, Tennessee for a pay-per-view this June.

It was announced today that NWA Alwayz Ready will be held at the Knoxville Convention Center on Saturday, June 11. The venue will also host a set of NWA television tapings the next night.

In storyline, NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Matt Cardona demanded that the PPV be dedicated to him if he’s going to wrestle in Knoxville.

“As Worlds Heavyweight Champion, Matt Cardona insisted that if he was to be compelled to go to a storied NWA territory like Knoxville, Tennessee and defend the championship, he would only appear if the June 11th PPV was in his honor,” Billy Corgan said. “This event, named after his singular catchphrase ‘Alwayz Ready,’ will feature his entrance music as the show’s sole theme, and all promotional materials therein will include his brand and likeness; including no less than a modified NWA logo which now reads MCWA (Matt Cardona Wrestling Alliance.) Now all that’s left is for the champion to be ready to live up to his requests.”

Cardona has been NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion since winning the title from Trevor Murdoch this February. His challenger for Alwayz Ready has yet to be announced.

Alwayz Ready will be available live via Fite TV as a standalone PPV or as part of the NWA All Access annual pass.

Tickets for Alwayz Ready will go on sale at 11 a.m. Eastern time this Tuesday.

Corgan told the Knoxville News Sentinel that, if Alwayz Ready and the TV tapings are successful, he’d like to bring the NWA back to Knoxville twice a year.

“I think the NWA’s history is because of the strength of the Knoxvilles and the Memphises and what they brought to the table that eventually became professional wrestling at the highest levels,” Corgan said. “I want to wrap my arms back around that legacy because that’s what I think of when I think of wrestling.”
